I drew Oprah?? Where???

There's not the usual amount of Nico. Maybe more Nico would ease the anxious feelings. Nice work. I like all the portraits.

I love the wall-eyed lady! I've met her before, not biblically, but I saw her on the bus once.

agree with the more Nico sentiment.

More short haired Kali too.

people can't get enough of me, Kali. just accept it.

These drawings are funny and the one on the bottom with the woman whose eyes are looking in both directions is demented.

Nico needs his own cartoon show.

also: this post gives good head(s). dig,

also also: sorry to contradict, but too much of nico in anything can be bad - think of velvet underground and their nico. you see, we can all learn from history.

kali!!!! you have progressed so much as an artist over the years. i'm a cornball but my mouth was literally hanging open when i was looking at your page just now. you're AMAZING! and i still have a little caricature you drew of me back in the DSMA days...it's been on my wall for years. i might need an updated one :)

Kali Fontecchio said...

Hi Angel! Thanks! I think I remember the drawing you're talking about...haha. I hope you're doing well- I'm sure you've graduated by now!

Hay Nico! Hay!

pop;yeah said...

more shorthaired kali is a good one. even more so now that you draw yourself extra cute, not the usual buckered teeth and squinty eyes.

Mr Goodson said...

I like that nostril on the bottom girl of drawing3. A specially attentive to detail schnoz

player said...

Wow you really draw alot. So much cool stuff.

Why are all the wall closing in on you? You just need to get out and have fun. You know I would of asked you out if you were single.

Pedro Vargas said...

Really nice colors on the first two! And great drawings all over! I like the girls in the first drawing especially the squinty-faced girl.

The green-haired girl in the second picture it's you... again. Just look at the profile picture. Great drawings.

Eddie Fitzgerald said...

What a treat! Beautiful colors, funny caricatures...it's all here!

Jorge Garrido said...

LOL, those are lyrics from this terrible nu-metal song.

Kali, you should really hang out with more shift workers and blue collar type guys who don't go to college, read books or appreciate art. Ignorance is an important quality to have in your life. I have an overabundance of it and will gladly sell you some of my ignorance for the price of a Limp Bizkit CD.

trevor said...

I'm officially old, Jorge.

I hear crap like the song you were singing and I say, "Damn these kids and their distorted version of Rock n' Roll!" But tell me I'm wrong.

And fuck Emo. I'm not violent, but I will kick an Emo kid's ass just to see him run back to the suburbs.

Colter said...

This is a comment on your post.

Jorge Garrido said...

Trevor, with a few musical exceptions, nobody under the age of 20 listens to nu-metal anymore. It died in the early 2000s.

There's a lot of good emo out there, it's a form of punk and an offshoot of hardcore. Read the wikipedia article for the basic history of it, but know that what they call "emo" these days isn't actually emo at all, it's just pop punk crossed with faggotry.

Good emo was an influence on grunge in the late 80s and early 90s. Some top-notch emo bands include Rites Of Spring, Fugazi, Sunny Day Real Estate and Hot Water Music. I'll send you some songs.

trevor said...

Thanks, Jorge.

Yeah, I worked with these emo-kids and couldn't even hear any melody... there was too much whining going on.

Thanks in advance for the music!

- trevor.

Beautiful work, Miss Kali.

I agree. Anxiety is a really, really, REALLY bad thing. It has hindered me horribly in the past. But how does anxiety exactly relate to these beautiful drawings, and marvelous worlds you are creating?

Skid said...

I love those last three drawings!

kellie said...

I especially like those last few caricatures with the bold shading - it makes them extra disturbing.

Hryma said...

Oh, aint the red overalls just cute along with the others.

Hammerson said...

>> I don't hate the player, I hate the game. <<

Don't hate the game. Just re-write the rules :)
The anxiety may be the bad thing, but the artwork is stunning! I love everything presented in this post, and those few b&w caricatures are something quite special. The last one really reminds me of a fat, wall-eyed white-haired Oprah.
By the way, will you appear at Comic Con this year?

Jublin said...

i haven't been here in a while, but your art is crazier than ever! oh man i love it. are you going to be at comic con this year? drawing faces and such and sitting and hanging out and such and such?

Dear Joshy said...

Dear Ms. Fontecchio,

First of all, I love, love, love all of the illustrations, doodles and random sketches you've adorned this "blog" with.

Secondly, I have to ask (but you don't have to tell), what brand of markers do you use?

Specifically, the markers used to create the "coloredgirls.jpg" image??

I realize that it doesn't matter so much what brand the marker is (more so, it's the operator of the marker).......but still, I gotsta know.

Thanks!
- Josh

Kali Fontecchio said...

Hi Josh-thanks!

I used Copic brush pens on that :)

I typically use copics, tria, and charpaks.

Kali Fontecchio said...

Oh yeah- for everyone that asked- no- I will not be at Comic-con.

Dear Joshy said...

Youzda bomb dizzy, gurl. Thanks!

Kristen McCabe said...

Wow! That last ones a Hoot in a Half!

I like how you handled the skin on the purple haired chick.

Do you go through markers as much as I do? They're so damn expensive but so much fun to color with.

Vincent Waller said...

I love to come here for the eye candy.
Great drawings.

"Do you go through markers as much as I do? They're so damn expensive but so much fun to color with."

They are freakin' expensive! Argh! I try to draw small in an attempt to save markers, but lately I've been drawing bigger and bigger.

Thanks Vincent!
