You Say Tomato I Say Potato

DEVO marker experiment.

Mark Mothersbaugh!

Again!

Moe is DEVO.

So is Curly.

My favorite Katamari characters- marker moleskin experiments:

UPDATE:Donate $30 to KXLU 88.9 FM Los Angeles, via the Kids Show, and receive a George Liquor t-shirt, drawn by John, inked by Mitch Leeuwe, and colored by me. It's really cool, and is on high quality American Apparel clothing, a baby blue shirt for men, and a cute baby blue with navy trimmings girly shirt for us ladies!

Those DEVO illos are the hotness. I got to see them last weekend in San Diego from right up front. Amazing.

I'd say "whip it good, Kali," but I think the effect would be disastrous.

A lot of things just seem to sound so much better in my little head.

Great job!

(Kali, I wanted to know what you thought of these few posts off my blog. I know this is totally off subject, but I'm just curious:

I am extremely jealous.

When did you get that Devo helmet-hair, and why don't you wear it ever day? Isn't it your duty, now, for the future? In other Devo news, they play Girl-u-Want in tv ads to promote the wince-inducing and laugh-evaporating Sara Silverman program. What's weird though is that since they don't own the rights to the original recordings, every time they liscense their music they rerecord it. I wonder if that drives Devo completists mad as they swap bootlegs of Swiffer and comedy central spots. Also, today i ran into someone with a vintage Devo shirt and my hands flew to my cheeks and i yelled "oh, no!" but it turned out his was a newer, suckier version which allowed me to maintain the alpha position.

I think I read Mark thinks it's awful, and that the Swiffer ruined his floor when he tried it out hahaha.

I used to have a vintage Oh No! It's Devo shirt, it was my mother's. It got very worn out so now I too wear the newer one. Oh well.

I love Devo, but I can't stop laughing at them for trying to cover nine inch nails' "head like a hole".

What were they THINKing? Pee-You!

Great Devo draw'ns! They are so cool, they had to shorten Devolution. I don't know about the CDs, but the record I have has a funny order form for nuclear meltdown gear.

wait, Mark Mothersborough? The guy from Rugrats? He was in Devo? The Whip It guys?

Are you a fan of Rugrats? There was some good shit on that show.

jack raffin said...

hahaha!! oh wow, cool. why aren't you working on some devo cartoon series?

...whoa! wait, wow, that'd be awesome: a devo cartoon series. and like...i dunno. like smart patrol series or something. mr kamikaze, mr dna, you know.

Those DEVO pics are amazing Kali!

I would totally buy a print of the first one.

Devo is right. It's not too late, to whip it. Whip it good.

Jorge,

the only good animation to come out of Rugrats was in the opening.

Not a Peter Chung fan, are we, trevor?

trevor said...

Peter. I like his designs, I just hated the show and almost all of the animation.

But I really hated the show, like, the ideas and....

... it was a really crummy show to have right before Ren and Stimpy. That's all I remember was feeling bad all through Doug and Rugrats ( but my sister watched them ) and then suddenly feeling amazing when Ren and Stimpy came on.

So.... no, not a Rugrats fan, no Jorge.

NO.

- trevor.

PS: If you were to ask me to watch an episode of Rugrats, I would watch the intro, then throw a brick at the screen.

PPS: Yeah, I got bricks. What.

Wow loving the Devo caricatures esp. Mark in the radiation suit.

I don't like Rugrats but Mark also did the music to one of the greatest shows of the '80's, Pee-Wee's Playhouse.

Devo have been trying for decades to make their own feature film. Personally I'd like to see an animated cartoon based on Devo's song "Big Mess". I would make it if I could draw better! Psychotic radio DJ's must be stopped before it's too late. Duty Now For The Future.
