Maude Macher, Dumb Dumb Duck, Joanna Newsom And Jimmy Page Too

Like this drawing? Get it on a shirt here:

Lately I've been obsessed with Joanna Newsom, she's this unique singer who plays the harp (among other things). I started listening to her in '04 when my friend Sean over at KXLU gave her music to me thinking I would enjoy it, he was right!

She's super pretty, I'm going to do some better drawings of her that are less boring and more fun later!

Soon I'm going to revisit my first year of high school by drawing another Ode To Jimmy Page. I was in love with him for like two years. Often, I go in and out of obsessions with music, and this one is no exception. I used to get up every morning at like 6 am before school and watch Jimmy's solo in Song Remains The Same during Dazed and Confused memorizing his solo on guitar with the bow. It was bad for my Les Paul which I covered in resin. I miss that guitar T____T.

But for here's some drawing I did when I was 13-14 and super obsessed with him. My dad still has the one drawing I did of him downing a bottle of Jack Daniels, he used to show it to his friends all proud like, "my daughter likes Zeppe and drew this!"

Thank you for giving me art pleasure breaks at work.

Your Joanna Newsom is adorable! I really love her music too. She grew up with my friend in this really hippy dippy place called Nevada City. She, Devendra Banhart, Coco Rosie, and Antony are in this quirky music mafia together.

I missed seeing her live like 4 years ago just because I wasn't aware of her music yet. Only if I had known of her magic two weeks earlier...My friends were just a tad more hip than me ;)

My favorite is the one with you and Jimmy holding hands in front of the psychedelic sunset.

MD: don't burn drawings!

Emily: SHe grew up with your friend??? Let's talk to your friend- I want to meet Joanna, maybe she can hook it up!

Sean: We aren't holding hands, but we should have been!

Kali Kazoo,
I'm sorry, but I can't take advantage of her celebrity roots because she's not my BFF, just a friend I seldom see...

Now, if we were living in the 50's and she knew Annette Funicello, I'd probably bug the crap out of her...on a daily basis.

...I love Annette!

I'm sure you'll meet Joanna one way or another. Just make it your next bday wish. :) :) :)

I wasn't familiar with Joanna Newsom but I see on Wikipedia that she is originally from Nevada City, which is my favorite town in the world. (That's where Gary Snyder lives.) I've ordered a couple of her CDs from the library.

I think you'll like her Lester! She's very entrancing!

Nevada City is certainly gorgeous. My girlfriend and I stayed at a haunted inn there once, the Red Castle. It also I believe has (or had) the highest number of used bookstores in California. : )

It's right near Grass Valley, where Bud Plant is. He of the millions of cartoonist and art tomes.

Newsom in concert was fantastic. I bought a t shirt that I think she designed. I suspect she loves to draw. You should send her your lovely portrait(it's great). Also, the crowd was as entertaining as the concert! Whatta scene.

Let's all go next time she comes here.

YES LET'S GO!

I want to contact her and tell her let's do your music video!!!

One more zazzle complaint: Why must they charge separate shipping on multiple items from the same artist/designer?

K, done complaining. Can't wait for my Kali stuff!
